PROGRAM A SATELLITE

1. If the satellite to be programmed is already stored in the wrong position, then it must be erased before it can be programmed. Click here to go to the Erase a Satellite section.

2. Start on a satellite next to or near the satellite that is being programmed.

3. Press the TUNING MODE button to bring up the dish tuning on the screen. The word DISH POSITION and SIGNAL STRENGTH will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. If dish, polarity, audio and video tuning modes do not come up, see the Unlocking the Tuning Mode section. After turning off the tuning mode lock and polarity, audio and video modes appear, but the dish position still will not come up. Turn off the dish mode lock. See the Unlocking Dish Mode section.

4. Press SAT button then the satellite name your looking for. (EX: SAT S 4). The receiver will change channels from what it was on. Go to an active channel on both the satellite you are starting from and the satellite you are programming with the channel up or down button or enter it directly. If you are starting from a satellite with the same format you should still have a picture on the satellite that you are on, if the satellite has an opposite format there will not be a picture. It will also have the name of the satellite that you are programming on the screen.

5. Tap the UP ARROW (west) or DOWN ARROW to move the dish toward the satellite you are looking for. Stop when you see either a picture or a clear black screen and check to see what satellite you are on. If the picture is the correct satellite, then proceed to step 6. If it is the wrong satellite, then continue to move. If it is moving the wrong direction, go the other way until desired picture is found.

6. If all the above steps worked correctly, you should be on the correct channel you were looking for and it should display the name of the satellite to be stored at the top of the screen. If not, then press SAT and the name of the satellite again.

7. Press STORE with a pointed instrument. The STORE button is a recessed button. If it displays "Storing Is Locked" then go to Unlocking the Store Lock section. After pressing store, you can press AUTOTUNE to tune even more, press STORE again if you want to save the changes, otherwise press CANCEL. Press the TUNING MODE until VOLUME MODE is displayed so that it is in normal viewing mode. Then hit VIEW to verify that it is stored.

-If the incorrect name is on the screen, then proceed from step 6 again.

8. If all steps worked correctly then you are finished.

9. If you cannot get the satellite programmed then try the Alternate Method below.

ALTERNATE METHOD

1. First of all, if the satellite is already stored then erase it. See the Erase a Satellite section.

2. Go to an active channel on the satellite next to the one to be programmed.

3. Press TUNING MODE to bring up the dish tuning on the screen. The word DISH will be displayed near the bottom.

4. Tap UP ARROW (west) or DOWN ARROW (east), just until the picture is gone, depending on which direction the satellite is located.

5. Press the TUNING MODE one time to bring up polarity tuning mode. The word POLARITY should be displayed near the bottom of the screen.

6. Select a channel that is active on the satellite you are looking for. Press and hold UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW until a picture or black screen appears, then tap UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to get the picture as clear as possible. Make a note of the polarity number on the screen. If a picture never appears, make sure you are on an active channel. If the channel is an active channel, then start over from step 1 and go in the opposite direction on step 3.

7. If the picture is in and it is correct, press TUNING MODE to bring up dish tuning on the screen. The screen will display DISH near the bottom.

8. Press SAT and the satellite name your looking for, (EX: SAT S 4). The receiver will probably change channels from what it was on. Go back to the channel that you tuned in using the channel up or down button. The picture may or may not be there, press STORE with a sharp instrument (even if the picture is not there). The satellite should be stored now. After pressing store, you can press Autotune to tune even more, press STORE if you want to save the changes, otherwise press CANCEL. Press tuning MODE until it is in the Volume tuning mode and then hit VIEW to verify that it stored it and that it is correct.

-If the picture is correct then you are finished.

-If it says "not on satellite" or a different name is on the screen, proceed from step 7 again.

-If the correct name is on the screen, but there is no picture. First, verify the channel. If the channel is OK, then press TUNING MODE to select the polarity tuning mode. Hold down UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW until the picture comes in, then tap UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW until the picture is clear. When the picture is clear, press STORE.

After pressing store, you can press AUTOTUNE to tune even more, press STORE again if you want to save the changes, otherwise press CANCEL. Press tuning MODE until it is in the volume tuning mode and then hit VIEW to verify that it stored it and that it is correct.
