The Chaparral Monterrey features up to 100 favorite satellite TV or radio stations,
31-day/9-event timer, auto tune, multi-receiver capability, picture in picture, Dolby
Surround Sound, MTS Stereo output, UHF remote and on-screen/front panel displays. The
Monterrey is the state-of-the-art receiver that includes multiple audio/video inputs and
outputs as well as coaxial inputs for dual C-Band or C/Ku-Band reception.

COMMON PROBLEMS
- If the screen says "SOURCE NOT MONTERREY", then press UP
ARROW LARGE SELECT.
- If you are not getting audio on GE3-16 (CNNi/CNNfn), press SETUP 1,
2, 1.
RE-PROGRAM A SATELLITE:
1. Go to the satellite that is to be reprogrammed.
2. Select a channel that will be active on the satellite to be programmed.
3. Press the MENU button. Press 7 for Sat/Ch Setup
(even if it does not display a line number 7). It may ask for a password. If so, press 2-3-4-5. It should now be in the Sat/Ch Setup menu. See below:

4. The arrow should be pointing at dish position, if not, press UP
ARROW or DOWN ARROW so that it is. Press the ENTER button. The screen should now be in the Set Satellite
Position menu.
5. Press LEFT ARROW (east) or RIGHT
ARROW (west) to tune to the satellite to be programmed. Stop when you come across
any picture or black screen. Check the picture to see if it is the correct satellite. If
so, proceed with step 6. If not, continue moving.
Possible problem: It is picking up the satellites with the opposite format.
(EX: You are looking for a Galaxy format sat. and they are picking up a Telstar format
sat. If this is happening, then try the instructions below:
a. Try to locate a satellite that is next to the one to be programmed. Then move in the
correct direction towards the satellite to be programmed, just until the picture is gone
and stop.
b. Press MENU twice to save the satellite in that position.
It will return to the previous menu. Make a note of the polarity number and the channel
number. ( TIP: The polarity range is 80-220. The normal settings are 101 for horizontal
and 178 for vertical ).
c. Press VIEW and go up or down one channel (even-to-odd or
odd-to-even).
d. Press MENU and then 7
(password 2-3-4-5 if necessary). Make a note of the
polarity and channel number. Move the arrow down to polarity if necessary. Then, enter the
polarity that you had on the previous channel by direct entry or with the left/right
arrows.
e. Press VIEW and go back to the previous channel and repeat
this step entering the opposite polarity from the other channel. (Steps 4 and 5 is to
reverse the format.
f. Press VIEW and verify if a picture is in. If not then,
press MENU - 7 again and move
the arrow to polarity and use LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW to adjust for a picture or press autotune.
g. If no picture will come in, then start over or call 1-888-FIX-MY-TV (349-6988).
6. Press MENU twice to save the satellite in that
position. It will return to the previous menu. Press VIEW and
verify that it is stored. If not repeat from step 1.
PROGRAM A NEW SATELLITE (ADDING IT TO THE RECEIVER'S DATABASE)
1. Go to a satellite with the same format and is near to the satellite that is
to be programmed.
2. Select a channel that is active on the satellite you are starting from and on the
satellite to be programmed.
3. Press MENU then 9 for
Sat. Definition. It may ask for a password. If so, press 2-3-4-5.
It should now be in the Sat Definition menu. See below:

4. Move the arrow to Add New Satellite if necessary.
5. Press ENTER. At the bottom of the screen it will display
"Enter New Satellite: __"
6. Press the letter and number of the new satellite name.
7. It may display "Press Enter To Activate". If so, press ENTER.
8. It will display "Satellite S1 Added" (or whatever name you
gave it ). (The new satellite now is stored on the satellite position that you are
starting from.
9. Press VIEW several times to exit the menus. Press VIEW again to see what satellite it displays. If it is the correct
satellite name that you just entered then proceed with step 10; if not, repeat the steps
again.
10. Press the MENU button. Press 7
for Sat/Ch Setup (even if it does not display a line number 7). It may
ask for a password. If so, press 2-3-4-5. It should
now be in the Sat/Ch Setup menu. See Below:

11. Press UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW
so that the arrow is pointing at dish position. Press the ENTER button.
The screen should now be in the Set Satellite Position menu.
12. Press LEFT ARROW (east) or RIGHT
ARROW (west) to tune to the satellite to be programmed. Stop when you come across
any picture or black screen. Check the picture to see if it is correct satellite. If so,
proceed with step 13. If not, continue moving.
13. Press MENU twice to save the
satellite in that position. It will return to the previous menu. Press VIEW and verify that it is stored. If not repeat from step 1.
ADDING A NEW FAVORITE CHANNEL
- Press MENU followed by FAVORITE.
- With the cursor on the NUMBER field, press the LEFT ARROW or
RIGHT ARROW to display the number of the favorite channel you
wish to use.
- Press DOWN ARROW to move the cursor to the GROUP field and
press RIGHT ARROW to select which favorite group you would
like to add this channel to. Up to 16 groups are available. If you wish to change the name
of the group then you can press ENTER while point to GROUP
and it will bring up the NAME MENU.
- Press DOWN ARROW to move the cursor to the SATELLITE field
and use LEFT ARROW or RIGHT ARROW to
select the satellite of the favorite channel.
- Press DOWN ARROW to move the cursor to the CHANNEL field
and select the channel number of the favorite channel.
- Press DOWN ARROW to move the cursor to the AUDIO field. If
the favorite is a TV channel then select 0. If it is a satellite radio station then select
the appropriate audio channel.
- Press DOWN ARROW to move the cursor to the NAME field and
press enter to display the NAME MENU
to select the name for the favorite channel.
NAME MENU
This menu allows you to specify the name you which to use for any favorite channel or
group (up to 12 characters including spaces). The name menu is also used to name the
external input sources and the satellite types. To use the naming menu:
- Use the UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW, LEFT ARROW, and RIGHT ARROW keys to
point the cursor at each character and press ENTER to select
that character.
- To erase a character, press CANCEL. You may also exit this
menu without the name by pressing CANCEL until the previous
menu is displayed.
- When you are finished changing the name press MENU twice.
